THE FRONT BOTTOMS TAKE ON NEW JERSEY

BY HOLLY VAN NESS

The Front Bottoms have been my favorite band for as long as I can remember. I was introduced to them sometime in middle school and the rest was history. On May 18th, I saw the band for the fourth time and actually ascended into space when I was approved for a photo pass. This checked off a huge milestone in my concert photography career and I couldn’t be more appreciative to everyone that made it happen.

For the month of May, The Front Bottoms toured around the East Coast on an intimate tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of their EP “Rose.” My show at Levitt Pavilion Steelstacks was the final stop on the road before the band took a much-needed break. Emperor X did a great job pumping up the crowd and getting them excited for the headlining act and when The Front Bottoms finally came on stage, there was an explosion of energy from every single person in the crowd. The best thing about fans of The Front Bottoms is that they’re dedicated–not a single lyric was missed from a single person in that crowd.

Another special thing about The Front Bottoms is that they’re equally as dedicated. Lead members Brian Sella and Matt Uychich know their discography like the back of their hands and can sing any song at the drop of a hat. They have a tendency to switch up setlists every night so no show is ever the same and they even played two song requests that fans yelled out from the crowd.

All in all, The Front Bottoms put on an amazing show (as always!) and I can’t wait for them to come around again so I can grab my childhood friends and scream along to some of the best songs ever made.
