TEEN JESUS AND THE JEAN TEASERS
BY HOLLY VAN NESSAll the way from Canberra, Australia, rock band Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are set to come to The United States for the first time ever to play two intimate shows in New York City and Los Angeles on September 26th and October 1st respectively. The band will also join Eddie Vedder, Kim Gordon, IDLES, and The Breeders at Ohana Fest on September 29th.
Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers consists of vocalist Anna Ryan, guitarist Scarlett McKahey, drummer Neve van Boxsel and bass guitarist Jaida Stephenson and was founded in July 2015 when the girls were students together. They spent a few years touring around Australia and performing at different festivals before making a name for themselves overseas.
The band cites the Riot Grrrl movement, Cherry Glazerr, Dream Wife, VOID, and WAAX, as their biggest influences, and Anna Ryan, lead songwriter, tells NME that the intention in their lyricism is to create music that is relatable and meaningful, especially to women.
Before their travel overseas, the band will be releasing a deluxe version of their debut album titled, “I Love You Too,” on September 20th in partnership with Mom+Pop Records. The album will be available on a brand new LP and feature three new songs (including a very exciting, never-before-seen collaboration).
