Gable Price and Friends with more friends Carver Commodore

BY SHOLOME

Gable Price and Friends, with openers Carver Commodore, played Beat Kitchen in Chicago, Illinois, this weekend, September 15.

Before the night began, I hadn’t heard much of either band's music. I had no idea what to expect when Carver Commodore took the stage first. Carver Commodore hails from Florence, Alabama, which they describe as "a modest town." Their music falls under the alternative rock genre, but they incorporate influences from garage, indie, and pop to create their unique sound. Right from the start, they took the audience on an exhilarating ride. They performed songs from their newly released album 'CARVER,' which came out on September 13th. Throughout their set, their high energy electrified the room and resonated with the audience, setting the stage perfectly for Gable Price and Friends.

Gable Price and Friends are from the scenic town of Redding, California, and they emerged onto to the music scene in 2018. Their music of alternative rock is heavily influenced by rock bands such as The Killers, Kings of Leon, and Switchfoot. When the band came out onstage, they came out with such gusto! They’re came out onstage with such gusto! They had the audience so engaged from the beginning. There was such an instant connection between the band and the audience. They drew in such a wide variety of fans in the audience, from some kids, as the youngest was six, to folks who were well over 50. It just shows that their music truly has something for everyone. They started their set with Newspaper Boat, where Gable went into the audience during the song and sang with them. They followed up with I Don’t Wanna Live Like This and Mountains and Mundane. Throughout the night, they played songs from their new EP Jungle in the City and other songs from their catalog, such as 50MG and Tough Love. They performed an unreleased song called Think With Your Chest, which will be out on music streaming platforms next month, and gave the audience a preview of it, which they loved. Throughout their whole set, you just felt this indescribable energy. During the show, I just looked around at the venue, which was a small venue, but the way that Gable Price and Friends engaged with the audience truly felt like a stadium show energy-wise.

As I mentioned before, I went into the night, not knowing/hearing much of either Carver Commodore or Gable Price and Friends music. I can now say that after the show, and as I’m writing this, I see such bright futures for both these bands. I highly recommend catching them while they’re still on tour. Carver Commodore is putting together their Creepy Crawly Halloween Festival on October 26th in Florence, Alabama. Gable Price and Friends have shows up until October 5th, when their tour ends.
