HOLLOW COVES at Trix Antwerp
by Jitte DavidsonHollow Coves is an indie-folk band. They were founded in 2013 and released their debut EP in 2014. Over the years, they have gained many international fans, and now, 10 years later, the band is still touring the world and putting on amazing shows for their audience.
On Monday, September 9, Hollow Coves' Nothing To Lose tour came to Antwerp, and I had the honor of reviewing their sold-out show.
Billianne, a 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Ontario, Canada, opened the show with her angelic voice and enchanting songs. She had previously toured North America with Hollow Coves and is now accompanying them through Europe and the UK. You might know Billianne from her famous Simply The Best cover on TikTok, but it was her original songs that touched my heart the most last night. With soft melodies and beautiful lyrics, she managed to bring the entire room to silence. Billianne will be back in Europe and the UK, headlining her own tour in October and November 2024. I definitely recommend going!
After a 30-minute changeover, it was time for the main act of the night—Hollow Coves. The show began with a powerful and enchanting intro, followed by the band members stepping onto the stage. After just a few songs, I was already blown away by this band. Hollow Coves didn’t just put on a concert; it felt more like an indie-folk party. Everyone was singing and dancing to the beautiful melodies, and the entire room suddenly felt like a safe space where people could let go and be themselves.
Before their song Evermore, Ryan and Matt (the lead singers) asked the crowd to put their arms around someone they loved—whether a friend, a family member, or someone they had just met. Everyone held each other throughout the entire song, and it was such a special moment to witness.
For their song Photographs, they divided the crowd into two halves and had them sing different parts of the chorus. I loved how interactive Hollow Coves was with the audience.
Overall, it was a magical and incredibly fun evening. They have more European and UK dates coming up, and if you don’t have tickets yet, I’d say, go get them! You’re in for an amazing time
