LGBTQ+ artists are making big contributions to the industry by setting new trends and creating inspiring music every single day. Now more than ever, there has been a vast amount of LGBTQ+ music artists that have been emerging into the soundtrack of our lives with their unique sounds, powerful lyrics and extravagant performances. Here are a few names that you need to have in your playlists.

BABY QUEEN

South African singer-songwriter Arabella Latham known by her stage name, “Baby Queen” has been becoming well known as her fandom begins to grow every day. With her upbeat songs, her music also takes on themes such as mental health, the standards of the living  and social media all while maintaining a queer perspective.

CLAUD

With the release of their debut album “Super Monster” and most recently the release of their indie record “Supermodels” on Phoebe Bridgers’ Record label Saddest factory Records, the singer rose to fame due to their heartfelt lyrics that are accompanied with fun guitar riffs, their music often explores the complexity of LGBTQ relationships and self discovery.

THE ACES

The all female indie group from Utah, have been gaining a lot of attention due to their catchy beats and relatable lyrics in each of their songs. The band combines themes of love, self empowerment, depression and many others into their music. Acclaimed for being transparent about their identity and fostering equality, The Aces need to be on your radar.

KELHANI

Her brand new album, “Crash” released a few weeks ago, and it has become one of the must listens of the summer. Being openly bisexual, the artist very oftenly incorporates her identity in her music, her album is full of powerful and emotional music that proves Kehlani’s musical talent.

ADRIANNA LENKER

With emotional and heartbreaking lyrics, Adrianne Lenker has been emerging to the mainstream industry. While being in the band, Big Thief, the singer’s solo stuff has been characterised by its intimate sound. Her openness about her queer identity has led audiences to be able to resonate with her music with its profound emotions.

As time passes, more LGBTQ+ artists come to the scene and ready to take over the mainstream world, artists such as Chappell Roan and Reneé Rapp have been taking over the mainstream music industry, as their contributions highlight LGBTQ+ experiences. As 2024 unfolds, there will be many more artists to come that will continue to inspire others and break barriers, making sure that every day the music industry becomes even more equal.
