Less Than a Month to Lollapalooza

BY ADI COHEN

Chicago’s Grant Park is gearing up for one of the biggest weekends in music as Lollapalooza returns from July 31 to August 3. The festival's four-day lineup is stacked with talent across all genres, making it no surprise that the festival sold-out as quickly as it did. There is genuinely something for everyone on the lineup.

Popular headliners include some Out Jamz favorites such as Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter and Doechii. Fans can also expect to see Tyler the Creator, Luke Combs, Korn, Rüfüs Du Sol, Twice, and ASAP Rocky. The headliners alone show how much variety there is. With pop, rap, rock, EDM, country, and K-Pop all being represented at the top of the bill.

With less than a month left in the countdown to Lolla, here’s some of our most anticipated (non-headliner) sets of each day.

THURSDAY

Kicking things off with Yana. A folk pop artist with a dreamy voice that is guaranteed to start your day off with good vibes. If you’re planning to see Gracie Abrams later on, you’ll probably want to check out Yana who has a similar sound.

ALEXSUCKS is another act we’ll be coming early for. A super fun garage rock band our team had the pleasure of covering on their last tour.

If you’re looking to dance, might I recommend The Blessed Madonna. You may have heard of them through their collaboration “Marea (we’ve lost dancing)” with previous Lolla performer Fred Again.., but this artist offers so much more. With songs like “Serotonin Moonbeams” and “Happier” guaranteed to make you move. For other acts that will have you dancing the day away, look to FCUKERS and Dom Dolla.Role Model is another act we can’t wait for. Our team previously covered the singer-songwriter during his tour stop in Brisbane, Australia. For those looking for a fun alt-pop performance and great crowd engagement, be sure to stop by his set.

FRIDAY

Looking at Day 2, there is no shortage of acts sure to give you a good time. Jane Remover is one of them. This exciting hyperpop, digicore artist released their third album Revengeseekerz earlier this year and I’ve been itching to hear it live since I first gave it a listen. Caroline Kingsbury is another. A magnetic voice and alt-pop sound combine to create some super fun music. Be sure to check her performance out at the BMI Stage from 3:20-4:00 for an unforgettable time.

The Dare takes the stage from 5:15-6:00 and is probably one of the sets I am most looking forward to. I missed his show last time he came to Chicago and I think about how much I regret like once a week. His music is peak indie sleaze and his performance is incredibly high energy.

For all the Charli XCX fans out there, he also produced “Guess.” If any of that is your thing, this is probably a “cant-miss” set for you too.Rounding out Friday is Bleachers. Another act that our team has had the opportunity to cover during previous tours and festival appearances. If you were raised on 2010’s alt, or just love Jack Antonoff and all the lore surrounding the albums he has produced, this is another set sure to impress you.

SATURDAY

Winnetka Bowling League is another Out Jamz favorite that we have previously covered. Frontman Matthew Koma (yes, the same one who wrote Zedd’s “Clarity”) shows off his talents in a different light. The indie-pop band known for thoughtful lyrics and catchy guitar hooks is sure to have you starting your Saturday off on the right foot.

If you need a vibe switch later on, head to see salute. Their 2024 debut album True Magic is the perfect summer soundtrack and full of exciting features like Rina Sawayama, Disclosure and Empress Of.

Clairo is another artist our team is particularly excited about. Her dreamy vocals and introspective songwriting pretty much led the “bedroom pop” movement and she hasn’t slowed down since. Her latest release Charm lives up to the hype and singing along to fan favorites like “Sofia” and “Bags” is something I personally am very much looking forward to.

SUNDAY

When I tell you to go see Jigitz, I am not playing. He’s onto something and is going to blow up. If you want to dance but want to feel something while you do it, there’s really no better artist to check out. The vibes are reminiscent of Fred Again.. But Jigitz is carving out his own path within that sound.

If you’re looking to keep the party going, your next stop should be Rebecca Black. I previously covered her show in Chicago and was blown away. She has come a long way from her 2011 song “Friday” and puts on such a fun and engaging pop performance that has the crowd jumping all the way through. I can’t wait to see what she brings to Lolla.

Remi Wolf is another exciting name on the lineup. She blends this cool funk sound with pop and puts on a fun and cathartic performance while she’s at it. Not to mention her collaborator Dominic Fike will also be playing on Sunday. The possibility of them playing “Photo ID’ together should be all the motivation you need to see her set.

There’s so much to see at this years Lollapalooza. This list barely scratches the surface of the talent on the lineup. As mentioned before, the festival is pretty much sold out, and for good reason.

If you’re looking to buy a ticket, the festival has a waitlist as well as verified resale passes available for purchase here.
