NOAH KAHAN AT MARYMOOR PARK

BY Shay Reichow (THEY/THEM)

Folk artist Noah Kahan made his way to Marymoor Park in Redmond, Washington on August 15th. It was shaping up to be one of the best shows on his Stick Season tour. Fans were hyped, chanting his name, ready to see their favorite artist of all time. The barricade was shaking with them hyping up his entrance. The energy in this outside venue was electric from the very back of the fields to the stage. Fans had signs, bracelets, and even custom jackets made dedicated to Noah Kahan.

Noah Kahan grew up overnight from popularity. TikTok users love him and this social platform has helped his growth immensely. In the past, Kahan has never been so interactive both in his stage presence and on socials. As of late, he has upped his stage presence and become more energetic. This current tour has helped prove that Kahan is improving his live performance skills.

Stick Season opened up with “All My Love”. Just from listening to the fans sing, this seemed to be the best choice to open with. The moment that the lyrics “We’d shake the frame of your car”, were sung, fans belted out the lyrics which got Kahan hyped for this round of the tour. During the second song of the set “Everywhere, Everything,” Kahan jumped from the stage to the lining of the barricade to sing with the fans in the front, startling the crowd. Which was easily one of the most notable moments of the show.

As the night went on, the energy mellowed out some as slower songs were played. One of Noah Kahan’s most popular songs “Dial Drunk” was played and the crowd went wild for it. Just from the crowd interactions, you could tell the passion and love for this talented folk artist was fiery as ever.

It’s incredible what social media can do to help boost these once-were small-town artists. Marymoor Park was packed from the back of the field to the front. It had been one of the most memorable tour stops yet. There is still so much room for growth for Noah Kahan. He is going to blow up even more than he is ready for. Stay tuned for what he has cooking for the future.
