LYDIA NIGHT AT THE ECHO

BY NIKKI WONG

Lydia Night is no stranger to commanding a stage. The former Regrettes frontwoman returned to Los Angeles to celebrate her debut solo record, Parody of Pleasure, with her first-ever solo show at The Echo. A performance that felt like both a homecoming and the start of a bold new chapter of pop music

She opened with fresh material, including Little Doe and The Hearse, instantly getting the crowd ready for an upbeat show. Even egging the crowd on teasing them that LA needs to have more energy than her New York show she’ll have later in the week. Still, she didn’t leave her roots behind as she sprinkled in some fan favorites of The Regrettes like Barely on My Mind and a snippet of You’re So Fucking Pretty, much to the delight of longtime fans.

One of the night’s most memorable moments came with Night delivered a fiery cover of Madonna’s Material Girl, climbing onto the bar to belt out the chorus with pop-star attitude. Equal parts playful and commanding, it was a glimpse of the fearless energy that will be driving this new era of her career.

Catch Lydia Night this fall as she opens up for The Aces “Gold Star Baby” Tour starting on November 4th.
