I PREVAIL AND HALE STORM at pnc music pavilion

BY ALYSSA SCINTA

I Prevail and Hale Storm begin their tour loaded with talent in Raleigh, North Carolina at the PNC Music Pavilion. I Prevail, American rock band from Michigan, expresses their long-time respect for Halestorm, as they began creating music almost two decades before them.

As both I Prevail and Hale Storm are to headline this tour, the intended structure is to alternate headliners per tour. On the opening night on July 9th, I Prevail closed out the night. Based on the demographic of this audience being primarily Hale Storm fans, it may not have been wise; however, based on their electric and technical stage design, it felt as if the lineup schedule was planned that way permanently.

I Prevail provided tv walls to front the platform where the drums, bass, and keys were placed, but also provided a backdrop for them on the second level. Opening their set was an eerie and immersive rhetoric video with strong but scary visuals, to completely black out the venue and allow the band to enter. I Prevail, with a discography with strong vocals and intense guitar and digital sampling, never had a low moment during their show. Not only did they plan all of their notable hits, they also performed their cover of “Blank Space,” by Taylor Swift, which can be found on Volume 6 of Pop Goes Punk.

The two powerhouses of the night are joined by Hollywood Undead, a Californian old-school style rock band, and Fit for a King, a newer wave metal core band. As the night had an early start, the crowd truly started to fill in between Hollywood Undead and Halestorm’s set.
