BLP Kosher Performs at The Fillmore Silver Spring

BY Daryl Perry

Even with an injury, BLP Kosher knows how to light up a stage. Wearing a knit beanie and sporting a bandage wrapped around his wrist and fingers, BLP Kosher seamlessly flowed through the setlist for his The Dreidelman Saga Tour—“Dreidel Man” being one his many monikers. His April 17 show at The Fillmore Silver Spring was the ninth out of 15 shows for the tour.

The 23-year-old rapper, whose real name is Benjamin Landy Pavlon, grew up in Broward County, Florida and started rapping during the COVID-19, according to an interview with Rolling Stone. His career took off through popular hits like “Mazel Tron” and “Special K.” Kosher stands out from most rappers, not only because of his hairstyle—two wicks that curl outward from the sides of his head, styled by a late friend—but because he proudly weaves his Jewishness into his music and image. Known for his witty wordplay, he frequently sprinkles references throughout his discography.

During his concert, he performed multiple songs from his 2023-released debut album, Bars Mitzvah, including “2000’s Baby” and “Cheese Touch.” BLP Kosher’s confidence alone made for an entertaining show, in addition to the voracious fans rapping along proudly to every song, including the recently released single “Skidoo.” He performed with passion, swaggering across the stage and flashing his full set of gold grills.

Kosher frequently expressed his love and gratitude for his fans throughout the show, taking videos on fans’ phones while on stage. Towards the end of the show, he went to the barricade, and walked down the front row, taking more photos with fans, and thanking the audience, ending the show on a wholesome note.
