BY DANY MIRELES

The 27 year old artist, Jassin Gharib just released their brand new single “i don’t have co-workers, i have undiagnosed adhd and a superiority complex “ which serves as the single for their upcoming and anticipated EP “..so I guess that makes me the devil,” which pays homage to the popular hit series “The Office”.  Known for their musical influences and captivating storytelling in lyrics, Jassin Gharib rises to the stage as a light for honesty in music.

Gharib’s music catalogue is as diverse as their musical influences, drawing inspiration from hip-hop , 90s rock, grunge, pop rock and RnB. Their love for The Killers’ music and their passion for Magic The Gathering’s realms is shown in the music that is created, as heavy guitars and drums add heavy layers to their music, creating its own unique blending sound and a visual imaginary for their sounds.

The newly released single  “don’t have co-workers, i have undiagnosed adhd and a superiority complex “ gives us a relatable narrative and can serve comfort in audiences. With its pop punk and grunge vibes, the song explores Jassin’s artistry and one of a kind sound. You can tell The Killers’ are a huge influence for the artist, as this song could be a song on any of this band’s albums. The song talks about loneliness with a rock beat alongside these self-reflecting lyrics, shining a light on the pain of losing a relationship, losing one’s mind and living with undiagnosed ADHD and struggling with feeling superior amongst other people .

What stands out the most are the lyrics and how vulnerable Jassin Gharib is to them, the name of the song sums up the whole explored theme, as it explores the artist’s self awareness when it comes to romantic relationships and their feeling of unfitness in them with its pop punk vibes. It helps us understand their perspective on relationships on a much deeper level,  and gives us the idea of when one is abandoned and wants to put more work in a relationship, the other person may feel trapped and try to escape and helps us see the pain of not communicating expectations in a relationship.

As we anticipate for the new release of the EP, we are left with a taste of what it might sound like, we can expect a lot of electric guitar riffs with heavy drums in the background. From the Twitter DIY scene to coming back from a hiatus, Gharib is for sure an artist you want to keep on your radar, as this song proves how much talent and authenticity they have to show audiences from all over the world with their relatable lyrics and their magnificent instrumentals. What we can anticipate from Jassin Gharib’s EP is a genuine and emotional collection of songs that addresses common struggles in relationships, and the artist’s journey in self discovery, we can also anticipate that the songs released will have a similar pop rock sound that should be exciting to hear.
