ALEX SLOANE’S IMMERSIVE EP “DEAR DIARY”
BY LIAM GILLIN (He/Him)
This past Friday, Alex Sloane released her EP “Dear Diary,” an 8-bit, hyper pop gem. The LA based creative is the definition of “independent artist.” Sloane not only produced and mixed the EP but also engineered and created the visuals. She welcomes listeners in her diary in this fifteen minute piece. “Dear Diary” channels into the feelings of comparing yourself to someone else, infatuation, and desire.
“Kinda Hate U Kinda Love U” is the single that sticks out the most on the EP. A song that channels the emotional complexity of comparing yourself to someone else in the journey of finding love. The reverbs of the song bring listeners into the multiple thoughts racing through Sloane’s mind as self-doubt comes into play. Other songs on “Dear Diary” that are enticing to listen to include, “Mine,” “Cute,” and “Nuclear.”
If you are looking for an artist that will take you on an immersive experience through their music, Alex Sloane should be the first person you check out, not only for her incredible vocals but how her producing is able to create music that is aesthetically pleasing to listen to. “Dear Diary” is the foundation of Alex Sloane’s hyper pop experience in music and we are excited to hear more.
