TOWA BIRD OPENS UP FOR Reneé Rapp in TORONTO
BY ARLIN
Towa Bird opened Reneé Rapp’s show on October 22nd at Toronto’s History. As the most memorable opening act I’ve seen, she is surely born to be a rockstar. “How are we doing bisexuals!” She exclaimed as she first walked out onto the stage. Everyone erupted in cheers as she geared up for her first song of the night.
I find that crowds are not always very receptive to opening acts as they anticipate the headliner, but unsurprisingly, they couldn’t get enough of her. Her live vocals and guitar solos bring a unique, rocking, angsty energy to her songs that must be witnessed live. We had the pleasure of being one of the first crowds to hear her new song “Drain Me!” a song as she describes it is about “love! sex! and pleasure! and pain!” as well as “This isn’t me” and “Boomerang”. She even came back out midway through Reneé Rapp’s “Tummy Hurts” for another electrifying guitar solo. With a mix of slower paced and fast tracks, there’s something for everyone. I couldn’t help but to have her songs running through my head on the way home.
Be sure to catch her on the rest of Reneé Rapp’s “Snow Hard Feelings” Tour, continuing into March of 2024. Tickets available at reneerapp.com
