Stars in the Making: A Night of Rising Talent at Irving Plaza
BY LIAM GILLIN
“Who are the breakout stars of 2025?” A question that we are still seeking the answer to almost halfway into the year. Well I can confidentially say that 3 of these stars brought the house down at Irving Plaza.
Daniel Seavey supported by sombr and kylekelly sold out Sunday night and set the scene in a way I haven’t seen in a very long time.
kylekelly started off the night and within a twenty minute set captivated the audience through their playful stage presence. With songs such as “it always ends the same” and “Priscilla.” A standout moment from the performance was their rendition of “She Looks So Perfect” by 5SOS and performing an unreleased song which left the crowd estactic.
sombr was up next. He’s currently on the rise as he has gained popularity through TikTok with hits such as “undressed” and “back to friends.” It was a performance that was intense in the best way possible. The drama and passion that came out of sombr was incredibly unique. As he climbed the barricade to have an intimate moment with his fans, they took in every second of it. The set was personal as the nineteen year old poured his heart out into his hometown show.
Finally, Daniel Seavey took the stage to headline the sold out show. Over the years, Seavey has built not only a devout fan base but also a remarkable amount of self confidence on stage. From his little dances in between sets to his songwriting abilities, he was able to create an intimate space that was not only fun but also sentimental. Daniel Seavey has come so far over the years especially with songs such as “I Tried” and his newly released album “Second Wind.”
It was safe to say this show was very refreshing. Being able to catch kylekelly, sombr, and Daniel Seavey in a single night was unforgettable. A venue that radiated in talent but also potential that I haven’t seen in a long time. I guarantee you in the next few years these will be some of the biggest names in the business and transforming the industry as time goes on. The breakout of 2025 is here and it’s with these 3 musicians.
