RICKY MONTGOMERY AT THE ROYALE
BY MADDIE MAYNARD
On February 27th, 2024, Ricky Montgomery traveled to the Royale in Boston, MA to put on an electric show accompanied by Noah Floersch. Boston’s show was the 11th out of 27 stops on the “Another Rick in the Wall” tour for his latest album “Rick”.
The show began with Ricky’s band behind a white curtain, while Ricky came out to perform the first song of the night, Line Without a Hook. The crowd went crazy when Ricky jumped into the photo pit to stand on the barricade and enjoy the moment with his fans. Ricky has an amazing stage presence, and smoothly transitions from his sad songs to his more upbeat songs. A friend of mine said she enjoyed the lighting effects and loved how energetic and interactive Ricky was with the crowd!
I’ve been a fan of Ricky’s since 2016 when his first album “Montgomery Ricky” came out, so this was really a full circle moment for me. Although this was my first show of his, and I’m incredibly grateful I got to photograph it. My personal favorite songs of his are “Get Used To It”, “Sorry for Me”, and “Black Fins”.
Set list: Line Without a Hook, In Your Pocket, Cabo, One Way Mirror, Talk to You, Black Fins, I Don’t Love You Anymore, Get Used To It, Unknown Phantom, Snow, Ethan’s Song, My Heart Is Buried In Venice, Boy Toy, Don’t Say That, Out Like a Light, Sometimes I Need to Be Alone, This December, Mr. Loverman.
