Peter McPoland Puts the “P” in “PVD”
BY MADDIE MAYNARD
On November 22, 2024, Peter McPoland started off his “Buddy” Tour in Providence, Rhode Island. This tour is taking place less than a year after he went on tour for his album “Piggy”, and he announced at the show that he is releasing an EP soon in the beginning of December. Peter explained how he wanted this tour to be intimate, how it was just him and his bandmates Landon Laney (bassist) and Joe Curtin (drummer), with no back tracks. The three of them also opened the show as “West End”, an old band they used to be in together. He played songs from his most recent album “Piggy”, as well as new and old singles including: Dig Your Man, Eloise, Were You There, Place Like This, Romeo and Juliet, Shit Show, Digital Silence, Blue, Dog, and a few other songs.
Peter also spent a good amount of time actually engaging with the audience and telling stories. He told them how they made the glittery star decor the night before in their hotel room, as well about their trip to guitar center and other local instrument stores in the area. My favorite thing he told us about was how he wrote Shit Show and Romeo and Juliet in Bristol, RI. Bristol is a very small, cute city in Rhode Island which also happens to be home to my favorite restaurant in the state. The show was very raw and personal, it was a pleasure to finally get to see Peter live after a few years of enjoying his music.
