Never Ending Fall at Union Stage

BY Anna Porcella

On February 1, 2024, Maryland natives Never Ending Fall took to Union Stage for their “almost hometown” show in Washington, DC. The “American Disco Tour,” named after the single that would drop that night of the tour, serves as the beginning of a new era for their upcoming album release. Along with them for this tour are pop rock band JVK and singer-songwriter Blake Ruby - two acts differing in genre but equally powerful in vocals.

Never Ending Fall (often stylized as NEF) pulls influence from a variety of genres, creating a range of sounds from heavier instrumentals to funky basslines to light feel-good indie rock. The result is a punchy style full of energy and a set that had the audience grinning from start to finish. The setlist included many new singles including “Bad Taste,” “Wasn’t So Bad,” and tour title inspiration “American Disco.”

The five-piece band were visibly having fun, spreading infectious energy throughout the crowd. The members frequently interacted with their audience: frontman Jack Miller and guitarist Conrad Boyd each hopped off stage to join the pit, bassist Johnny Hohman exchanged quips with the crowd, guitarist Pearce Eisenhardt showed off his dance moves with the encouragement of the front row, and drummer Tommy StClair directed the crowd’s waves with his drumsticks. With no barricade holding them back, the band’s high energy reciprocated by the audience successfully created a “party on a Thursday night.”
