LAKE STREET DIVE AT THE GREEK

BY GENEVIEVE QUINN

It was pure chemistry and talent on the stage Saturday night at the Greek. Beloved soul-pop group, Lake Street Dive gave a powerful performance from beginning to end. The night was primarily filled with songs off their latest album, Good Together. And good together they are. The band is composed of founding members Rachael Price (lead vocals), Bridget Kearney (bass) and Mike Calabrese (drums) as well as new additions Akie Bermiss (keys/vocals) and James Cornelison (guitar).

Price put her moves where her mouth is as she spent the duration of their latest song, “Dance With a Stranger”, in the pit dancing with fans. The real treat of the night was the stripped down, acoustic set of “Bad Self Portraits”, “Neighbor Song” and “Help Is On The Way”. As the band gathered center stage, the once excitable crowd became focused and enamored, fawning over their incredible ballads.

Later in the night, the ensemble was joined by opening act, Celisse, for their well-loved cover of Daryl Hall & Richard Oates’ “Rich Girl”.  After shredding and belting, Celisse rightfully earned a standing ovation from Lake Street Dive fans, setting up the night with love.
