K.FLAY at the lodge room
BY NIKKI G WONG
A music industry veteran, K.Flay hosted electric back-to-back shows at The Lodge Room in Highland Park, CA. We were lucky enough to catch the second night of the MONO tour in Los Angeles. This tour supports her latest album, MONO, which pushes the vulnerability she faced after losing her hearing in one ear back in 2022. K.Flay's stage presence was apparent the minute she took the stage, looking ready for a boxing match, black eye and all. She threw punches all night, opening with "Are You Serious" and immediately following up with "Raw Raw". Crowd favorites of the night were "TGIF" and "Blood in the Cut". Like her discography, K.Flay transfers her energy from her music to her audience in a live show.
Something that concert-goers may find unique at K.Flay shows is a customized program. With background details on the show, games to play, and puzzles to solve. A great way to pass the time between acts.
A new emerging band on the scene, Vienna Vienna, opened the night. Empowering similar punchy rock tunes, they boasted a well-polished set that got the crowd ready for K.Flay. Although they only have one track available for stream, I'm excited to see what comes of their debut record, "Greetings From Wonderland".
