HANNAH DIAMOND AT THE ATLANTIS

BY Lia Patentas

Following the release of Perfect Picture and a European tour in 2023, Hannah Diamond’s US tour kicked off at The Atlantis in Washington, DC on March 14th. Perfect Picture was one of my favorite album releases of 2023 and it was such an incredible experience to be able to catch her first-ever performance in DC as well as the first night of tour!

Watching her perform was like seeing a pop concert straight out of a movie. Diamond has always been consistent with her overall aesthetic and lyricism, and her live performance fit right in line with her artistry. She opened with slower tracks, the first being “Poster Girl,” an introspective pop song reflecting on imposter syndrome and the experience of longing to be someone else. Diamond’s energy was contagious as she continued to sing new hits, like “Affirmations” and “Perfect Picture,” as well old favorites to her fans. A specific highlight was the surprising inclusion of Diamond’s remix of 100 gecs’ song “xXXi_wud_nvrstøp_ÜXXx” which got the entire venue jumping. For the encore, Hannah Diamond returned to the stage to sing “No FX,” which felt like a sweet tribute to her fans.

This show set an amazing tone for the rest of the tour. Even with a minimalistic stage setup, Hannah Diamond delivered a captivating show that the crowd couldn’t look away from.
