BIG THIEF TAKES ON MIAMI BEACH
BY DUZI GOMEZ
Big Thief brought their indie folk energy to Miami Beach Bandshell on February 21, where they performed an almost sold-out show. Opening was Buck Meek, the solo project of Big Thief’s own guitarist. Buck Meek’s soulful and twangy themes were the perfect introduction to the night, and the crowd sang their hearts out to the intimate lyricism.
Later, the female-fronted folk group Big Thief took the stage, and the crowd was warmed up and ready for what was to come. They opened with “Dried Roses,” and you could feel the emotion coming from Adrianne Lenker’s vocals. It was an amazing performance that even brought a few front-row fans to tears. It was an amazing sight to see the band and audience united by the melancholic songs played throughout the night.
