Bands Five For Fighting and The Barenaked Ladies took the stage at Pier 17 on July 12th, proving once again why they are renowned for giving some of the best live performances in the industry.
The energy was high and the crowd was in a great mood from their outstanding opener Five for Fighting, who warmed the crowd up with their hit songs 100 Years and Chances. They played a special rendition of Superman (It’s Not Easy) with a taping of the Ukrainian philharmonic in the background and a video of their time spent in war-torn Ukraine. It was a moving scene and the strong crowd sang along with heavy hearts. Before they left, lead singer John Ondrasek invited the crowd to warm up for the Barenaked Ladies with a stunning rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. The fans joined in and the vibe was electric. Five For Fighting made sure to leave their mark on New York City that evening.
Barenaked Ladies came on and started off with hits Matter of Time and It’s All Been Done. Lead singer Ed Robertson and bassist Jim Creeggan engaged in onstage banter, joked with the audience and kept the energy high. The crowd went wild when they played their hit One Week, and then they introduced their newest single Lovin’ Life to much appreciation. When they played their most recognized song, If I Had $1,000,000 the fans sang along to every word, including hand motions! The band gave an unforgettable finish when they covered Miley Cyrus, Harry Styles, and others. Fans left the show with an amazing concert experience from both bands alike, this wasn’t a night to forget.
